About GABRIELLE ISABEL

GABRIELLE ISABEL is a Catholic home and apparel brand based in Dallas, Texas. We make and source devotional home goods and modest clothing for women who want the beauty of the Church in their everyday life, not only on Sunday. Every piece is chosen by hand. Every order is packed and shipped from our home by the two of us.

Why we started

There were no stores selling beautiful modest clothing.

That was the whole beginning. Gabrielle went on a retreat in college, heard a talk on modesty, and started rethinking her closet. What she wanted after that was simple: clothes that were feminine, well made, and covered her. What she found was either beautiful or modest, almost never both.

So we made what did not exist.

Years later the same gap showed up in a different room. We wanted a crucifix for our wall. A real one, one we would be proud to hang where people could see it. What we found was plastic, or mass produced, or something you would only ever find in a church gift shop. There was no version of a Catholic home that looked like a home someone actually lived in.

That gap is now most of what we do.

What we believe about beauty

The Catholic faith should not stay at Mass on Sunday. It should come into your home.

Most of us have felt the difference between a cathedral and a living room, and accepted that beauty belongs in one and not the other. But the same care that went into a carved altar rail can go into the thing on your entry table, the piece above your bed, the corner where you pray in the morning before anyone else is awake.

Beauty is not decoration. It is how you remember who you belong to when you are not in church.

Where our pieces come from

Our brass pieces are made in a city in India that has worked with brass for generations and is known worldwide for it. Our partner workshop there hand casts, finishes, and antiques each piece. The variations in patina and texture are not flaws. They are the evidence of a person.

Occassionally we offer limited drops of gorgeous paintings that come from artisans in Cuzco, Peru, working in the tradition of the Cuzco school, a style of religious painting that began in the 1500s and is still practiced there today. Several of these paintings are one of a kind, including the gold leaf brocateado detailing.

Our Signature Collection apparel is designed by Gabrielle and sewn in Peru by a single seamstress with her sewing machine in 100% Peruvian pima cotton. It's the very definition of slow fashion.

Everything else in the store is bought from vendors we have met in person, most of them at conferences and trade shows. We ask them how it is made and who makes it. We think a store that sells you something has a duty to know where it came from.

How we decide what to make

Every piece goes through the same three questions before we commit to it.

Is it beautiful? Would we hang it in our own home, or wear it ourselves?

Is it made well? We ask about materials, about the workshop, about who touches it. We hold a sample before we place our orders.

Does it belong? Every collection is supposed to feel like one world. A piece that is beautiful on its own but does not sit next to anything else we make is a piece we do not carry.

Most important of all, we pray about it. There are pieces we have walked away from at the last minute, and pieces we ordered because we could not deny that the Holy Spirit placed them on our hearts.

Who this is for

The woman setting up her first apartment and wanting to showcase her faith without looking like a gift shop.

The mother who needs a dress she can nurse in, chase a toddler in, and wear to a baptism.

The grandmother buying three Sacred Hearts at once, one for herself and two for her goddaughters.

If you are new to any of this, you are welcome here. If you have been Catholic your whole life and you simply want something beautiful for your home, this is the place for you.

How your order gets to you

We are not a warehouse. When you place an order, one of us picks it off the shelf in our home in Dallas, steams or wraps it, packs it, and drives it to the post office.

Orders ship within 1-2 business days, unless specified in the description. Shipping is free on orders over $88. We ship internationally, and a real share of our customers are in Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil.

If something is wrong with your order, write to us at info@gabrielleisabel.com. It reaches the same two people who packed it.

Gabrielle and Pietro

We met in high school band class when we were 18. We did four years of long distance through college and leaned hard on our Catholic communities to stay close. We married, moved to Dallas, and started this out of our home.

Gabrielle designs the pieces, sources them, and is the face you see on Instagram. Pietro handles the operations, the packing tape, and the parts nobody sees.

It still surprises us when we see someone wearing one of our dresses to Mass. Two years ago at SEEK, on the last day, we went to Mass at the cathedral outside the conference and saw a girl in one of our dresses. She had chosen it for that. We are still building this thing, and moments like that are the reason.
